A Pevely woman and a High Ridge woman were hurt late Thursday afternoon (Oct. 10) in a four-car accident at highways 21 and 110 north of De Soto, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.
At 4:30 p.m., Paula A. Thomas, 24, of Fenton was driving a 2014 Kia Optima and while turning left from southbound Hwy. 21 to Hwy. 110, pulled into the path of a 2020 Chevrolet Malibu headed north on Hwy. 21, and the front of the Malibu struck the rear right side of the Optima, the report said.
Then, the Optima began sliding, and the rear left side of it struck the front of a 2013 Honda Civic that was stopped on westbound Hwy. 110 at a stop sign. That collision caused the rear of the Civic to strike the front of a 2014 Ford Taurus that also was stopped on westbound Hwy. 110, according to the report.
Hallye J. Murray, 23, of Pevely was driving the Malibu, Ryann L. Bennett, 27, of House Springs was driving the Civic and Carolyn D. Brickley, 52, of De Soto was driving the Taurus, the report said.
No injuries were reported for Thomas, Bennett or Brickley.
However, Murray had minor injuries, and a passenger in the Malibu – Kelly R. Plosser, 49, of High Ridge – was moderately injured, and they were taken by Valle Ambulance to Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City, where they were treated and released, a hospital spokesman said.
All those involved in the accident were wearing seat belts, the patrol reported.
The Optima, Malibu and Civic were extensively damaged, and the Taurus was not damaged, the report said.
