Tyler Powers, 25, of Pevely was hurt Oct. 17 when he crashed a motorcycle into an SUV on Truman Boulevard near 10th Street in Crystal City, said Chad Helms, the Crystal City Police chief.
He said Powers was riding a 2010 Victory motorcycle north on Truman Boulevard at about 1 p.m., when he failed to see an SUV stopped and waiting to turn in front of him, and the motorcycle struck the back of the SUV, a 1995 Chevrolet Blazer. Powers became stuck under the vehicle, Helms said.
Brenden Walker, 20, of High Ridge was driving the SUV. No injuries were reported for him or the passenger in the Blazer.
Helms said a “good Samaritan” used a carjack to help free Powers from under the vehicle and then medical personnel attended to him before he was transported by Joachim-Plattin Ambulance to Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City.
After that, Powers was transferred to Mercy Hospital South in south St. Louis County, where he was treated and released, a hospital spokesman said.
Helms said the “good Samaritan” left before the officer was able to get his name or thank him.
“He was there and gone and we don't even know who he was,” Helms said.
The road was closed for a short time following the accident, Helms added.
