A Pacific woman was arrested on suspicion of driving while under the influence of drugs and leaving the scene of an accident that she was involved in late Monday evening (Jan. 13) on I-270 south of I-70 in northwest St. Louis County.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that the 56-year-old woman was driving a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado north on I-270 at 11:55 p.m. when she ran off the left side of the road and drove into a concrete traffic barrier. The vehicle began rotating and hit the barrier a second time, the report said.
The woman was seriously injured and was taken by the Highway Patrol to SSM Health DePaul Hospital in Bridgeton, the report said.
An update on her condition was not available.
While at the hospital, she was placed under arrest on suspicion of leaving the scene of a crash, possession of drug paraphrenia and driving while intoxicated with drugs.
She will not be named unless she is charged with a crime by the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
The woman was wearing a seat belt, the report said. The Silverado was totaled.
