A De Soto man was seriously injured and a Valles Mines man was moderately hurt in a two-vehicle traffic accident early Friday (Oct. 18) on Hwy. 67 at Flucom Road south of Festus and east of De Soto.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that Donald Caruthers, 78, of De Soto was driving a 2006 Chevrolet Tahoe east on Flucom Road at 6:25 a.m. when he was turning right onto northbound Hwy. 67. A northbound 1995 GMC Somona driven by Seth Hill, 27, of Valles Mines, reportedly failed to yield, and the front of the Sonoma struck the right rear of the Tahoe, the report said.
Caruthers sustained serious injuries and was taken by Survival Flight helicopter to Mercy Hospital St. Louis in Creve Coeur, the report said. Hill sustained moderate injuries and was taken to Joachim-Plattin Ambulance to Mercy Hospital South in south St. Louis County, the report said.
Updates on their conditions were not available.
Both drivers were wearing seat belts, the report said; both vehicles were totaled in the crash.
