A 42-year-old House Springs woman was arrested for suspicion of driving while intoxicated following a two-car accident on Tuesday night (Jan. 7) on Hwy. A west of Harrison Lake Road between Hillsboro and Festus. The driver was seriously hurt in the wreck, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.
At 9:55 p.m., the woman was driving a 2003 Pontiac Grand Am east on the highway, crossed the center line, and the front left side of the car struck the front left side of a westbound 2013 Chevrolet Malibu. Then, the Grand Am skidded off the north side of the road and struck a tree, the report said.
Zachary R. Warren, 24, of Festus was driving the Malibu. No injuries were reported for him.
The House Springs woman was taken by Joachim-Plattin Ambulance to Mercy Hospital South in south St. Louis County, where she was listed in satisfactory condition on Wednesday afternoon (Jan. 8), a hospital spokesman said.
She and Warren were wearing seat belts, the patrol reported.
The two cars were totaled, the report said.
The patrol arrested the House Springs woman later that night at the hospital.
