A 15-year-old male from Hillsboro and a 68-year-old woman from Blackwell were seriously hurt Thursday evening (Sept. 19) in a three-vehicle accident on Hwy. 21 south of Hwy. CC in Washington County, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.
At 5:50 p.m., Donna L. McGuffey, 68, of Blackwell was driving a 2011 Ford Escape south on Hwy. 21 and while turning left into a private drive, she reportedly failed to yield to a northbound 2017 Ram 2500 pickup, which struck the right side of the Escape. The pickup came to rest on top of the SUV, and then a southbound 2015 Volvo S60 struck the rear of the pickup, the report said.
Colby D. Johnson, 31, of Blackwell was driving the Ram, and George J. Guilliams, 60, of Alton, Ill., was driving the Volvo. No injuries were reported for them.
However, McGuffey and a passenger in the Escape – the Hillsboro teenager – were hurt and transported to area hospitals.
McGuffey was taken by Washington County Ambulance to Mercy Hospital South in south St. Louis County, where she was listed in good condition this afternoon (Sept. 20, a hospital spokesman said.
The teen was taken by Arch helicopter to Children’s Hospital in St. Louis. No information about his condition was available.
All those involved in the accident were wearing seat belts, the patrol reported.
The Escape and Ram were totaled, and the Volvo was moderately damaged, the report said.
