Lester A. Roth, 60, of High Ridge was killed Sunday afternoon (March 18) in a motorcycle accident in the 1100 block of Hwy. AT in Franklin County, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.
At 3:19 p.m., Roth was riding a 2016 Harley-Davidson Road King west on Hwy. AT, traveling behind a pickup that slowed to make a right turn onto a gravel road, and while the pickup was turning, Roth was riding on the right shoulder of the road, and the left side of the motorcycle struck the right front of the truck, Cpl. Juston Wheetley said.
Scott R. Baumbach, 41, of Villa Ridge was driving the pickup, a 2005 Dodge Ram 2500. No injuries were reported for him.
Roth was taken by ambulance to Mercy Hospital Washington, where he was pronounced dead at 4:52 p.m., according to the report.
Baumbach was wearing a seat belt, and Roth was wearing a "non-Department of Transportation-approved helmet," so the patrol considers that not using a safety device, Wheetley said.
The Harley-Davidson was totaled, and the pickup was driven from the scene with minor damage, the report said.
