A 22-year-old Festus man who was hurt Monday night (May 21) in a one-car accident on Hwy. 61 south of Plattin Road south of Festus was arrested for suspicion of driving while intoxicated, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.
At 10:50 p.m., the man was driving a 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix south on the highway, and the car ran off the left side of the road, where it struck an embankment and then overturned, the report said.
He was moderately injured and taken by Joachim-Plattin Ambulance to Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City, where he was treated and released, a hospital spokesman said today (May 24).
The man was not wearing a seat belt, the patrol reported.
The car was extensively damaged, the report said.
