Justin P. Johnson, 38, of Festus was hurt Sunday afternoon (March 22) in a two-vehicle accident on Hwy. 67 at Flucom Road southeast of De Soto, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.
At 1:10 p.m., John J. Blum, 24, of De Soto was driving a 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer east on Flucom Road approaching Hwy. 67, and while attempting to apply the brake, accidentally hit the gas instead, and the SUV entered the southbound lanes of the highway and struck the passenger side of a southbound 2015 Hyundai Tucson driven by Johnson, the report said.
After the collision, the Tucson crossed the median, entered the northbound lanes of the highway and eventually came to rest, according to the report.
No injuries were reported for Blum. However, Johnson was moderately injured and taken by Joachim-Plattin Ambulance to Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City.
Both drivers were wearing seat belts, the patrol reported.
