A Fenton man was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated after he was involved in a one-car accident Saturday evening (Nov. 23) on I-44 west of I-270 in the Fenton area of St. Louis County.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that the 46-year-old man was driving a 2015 Nissan Murano west on I-44 at 9:15 p.m. when he drove off the right side of the road and struck a concrete barrier, then returned to the road and drove off the left side, where he hit another concrete barrier.
The man suffered moderate injuries and was taken by the Fenton Fire Protection District to Mercy Hospital St. Louis in Creve Coeur, the report said.
An update on his condition was not available.
He was not wearing a seat belt, the report said. The car was totaled.
The man, who was placed under arrest while at the hospital by Highway Patrol officers on suspicion of driving while intoxicated, will not be named unless he is charged with a crime by the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
