A 35-year-old Fenton man was arrested for suspicion of driving while intoxicated on Thanksgiving following a one-vehicle accident on Old Sugar Creek Road north of Hunning Road in unincorporated Fenton that left him and a passenger hurt, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.

At about 8:15 p.m. Thursday (Nov. 28), the man was driving a 2001 Ford F150 north on Old Sugar Creek Road and allegedly failed to maintain a single lane before the pickup ran off the right side of the road and down an embankment, where the front right side of the vehicle struck a tree, the report said.

The driver was seriously hurt, and a passenger in the pickup – David C. Hewitt, 39, of House Springs – was moderately injured. They both were taken by ambulance to Mercy Hospital South in south St. Louis County, according to the report.

Neither man was wearing a seat belt, the patrol reported.

The pickup was totaled, the report said.

The highway patrol arrested the Fenton man at the hospital, according to the report.
