traffic accident 4 patrol patch

A 24-year-old Dittmer man was arrested for suspicion of driving while intoxicated following a two-car accident on Wednesday (Oct. 4) on Hwy. 30 west of Faye Drive in Dittmer, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reports.

The man and a 35-year-old Sullivan woman were hurt in the accident, the report said.

At 4:55 p.m., the man was driving a 1999 Nissan Altima east on Hwy. 30, and the car crossed the double yellow line, and the left front of it struck the left side of a westbound 2012 Toyota Corolla, and then the Altima spun and came to rest in the eastbound lane, the report said.

Jennifer L. Wiley, 35, of Sullivan was driving the Corolla. She sustained minor injuries and was taken by private conveyance to SSM Health St. Clare Hospital in Fenton, where she was treated and released, a hospital spokeswoman said.

The man was moderately injured and taken by the highway patrol to St. Anthony’s Medical Center in south St. Louis County, where he was treated and released, a hospital spokesman said.

The man was not wearing a seat belt, and the woman was wearing one, the patrol reported.

The Altima was totaled, and the Corolla was extensively damaged, the report said.

The highway patrol arrested the man while he was at the hospital, and he was released pending application for warrants, the report said.
