A De Soto man was seriously hurt in a two-vehicle collision Tuesday morning (Sept. 10) on Hwy. V in the Valles Mines area south of De Soto.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that Ralph Porter, 72, of Festus was driving a 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan minivan west on Hwy. V at 9:50 a.m. when, in an attempt to turn left onto Valles Mines Road, he drove into the path of an eastbound 1996 Ford Ranger driven by Earl McCoy, 65, of De Soto, and the front of the pickup struck the front of the minivan.
McCoy sustained serious injuries and was taken by Valle Ambulance to SSM Health St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis, the report said. The report made no mention of an injury to Porter.
An update on McCoy’s condition was not available.
Porter was wearing a seat belt but McCoy was not, the report said. Both vehicles had extensive damage.
