A 44-year-old Barnhart man was arrested Friday (Sept. 28) evening for alleged possession of methamphetamine after he allegedly ran a red light and crashed the motorcycle he was riding on Hwy. 30 at Little Brennan Road in High Ridge. The man was seriously hurt in the wreck, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.
At 5:05 a.m., the man was riding a 2002 Harley-Davidson Heritage Softail Classic east on Hwy. 30 approaching Little Brennan Road, where a northbound truck had been stopped at a red light before proceeding through the intersection when the light changed to green. The Barnhart man, however, allegedly did not stop when the light turned red for eastbound Hwy. 30, and the front of the Harley struck the left side of the truck, the report said.
Timothy P. Laturno, 46, of Lonedell was driving the truck, a 2004 Hino 338. No injuries were reported for him.
The Barnhart man was taken by North Jefferson County Ambulance to St. Anthony’s Medical Center in south St. Louis County, where he was listed in satisfactory condition Friday afternoon, a hospital spokesman said.
He was wearing a helmet, and the truck driver was wearing a seat belt, the patrol reported.
The Harley was extensively damaged, and the truck had minor damage, the report said.
The patrol arrested the Barnhart man at the hospital, according to the report.
