Joanne Middleton of Arnold submitted this photo, a fond remembrance of Mack, her black Labrador retriever who died in 2008 at age 13. Middleton said she is not sure what year this photo of Mack lounging on a hay bale was taken.
“The hay bale was for Halloween,” she said. “I was going to put pumpkins out there. He hopped onto it.”
Middleton said the reflected Mack’s relaxed personality.
“He was laid-back,” she said. “He was a good dog, well-behaved.”
Mack was a faithful companion, she said.
“After my husband, Steve, was in a car accident, Mack would walk along with his wheelchair,” Middleton said.
Mack made friends easily, she said.
“He went everywhere with us,” Middleton said. “He got along with other people and pets. We went camping one time and he’d go with other dogs down to the river. We’d camp at the Black River.”
