Kendra Golden of Festus said her two Chow Chows, Blaire, 2, and Baine, 7, don’t need to be smothered with attention, which suits her.
“I have had Baine with me for seven years,” she said. “I got him when I was on active duty in the Air Force. He has been a good companion. He’s moved with me to my many locations. When I moved back here to Festus, I decided to get him a companion, so I got him Blaire.
“Chow Chows are known as apartment dogs,” Golden said. “They don’t need a lot of attention. They’re low maintenance.”
She said Blaire and Baine generally co-exist well together.
“He’s a little bit of an old man,” Golden said. “Blaire can be irritating to him. She’s a little goofy for a Chow. But, they get along great.”
There is one other pet in the residence.
“I also have a cat, Nelson,” Golden said. “The dogs and the cat kind of ignore each other.”
