Sissy, a 2 1/2-year-old Great Pyrenees mix, needs a home.

Sissy, a 2 1/2-year-old Great Pyrenees mix, would be a great addition to any family who adopts her, said Heather Wilhelm of 4 Paws 4 Rescue, a nonprofit group based in Fenton that fosters rescue animals.

“She’s a good dog,” said Wilhelm of Murphy. “She’s friendly with other dogs and cats. She loves to be by a human’s side. As long as she likes you, she’s like Velcro.”

Sissy weighs about 75 pounds and has “a loving heart,” Wilhelm said.

“She takes a while to warm up to people, but once she does, she is terrific,” Wilhelm said. “It took her a couple of hours to warm up to me and about two weeks to warm up to my husband. Now that she knows we are cool she is the sweetest dog.

“She loves to chew on Benebones (dog toys) and play with our family dogs,” Wilhelm said. “She is housebroken, loves a good car ride, being brushed, sitting on the couch with me, sleeping in bed with me and sunbathing on the patio.”

Wilhelm said 4 Paws 4 Pets has no animal shelter but has volunteers who foster animals waiting for adoption.

“We have cats and dogs, mainly,” she said. “Every once in a while, we’ll get a rabbit.

“It is a tight group that works with each other to make sure the animals are overly loved, medically taken care of and behaviors are acceptable before going to permanent homes. The fosters are provided food and other items from our rescue that is donation-based.”
