The sold-out dinner, with food from Taytro’s and presentations on Jefferson County’s 200-year history, was the finale of the Bicentennial year of activities.
230 guests enjoyed a six-course dinner and chose Terri Becker of Festus as the grand prize winner, for her recipe for Cheesy Italian Sausage Potato Chowder.
The parade had about 100 entries with a theme of “Jingle Bells.” The float by McCain’s Towing and Recovery in Herculaneum won first place.
Students at the Fox C-6 campus cheered on the parade and later treated veterans to lunch and an assembly in their honor.
About 60 percent of Jefferson County’s voters cast ballots, extraordinarily high for a mid-term election.
