Later gaiter: Marching Tigers stylin' as they close out regular season
Due to a scheduling quirk in this year's high school football season, the Festus Marching Tigers completed their regular-season home schedule for fall 2020 on Friday (Oct. 2) with four performances in the last four weeks. The Tigers' football team takes to the road for the last three weeks of the regular season, as the band awaits to hear whether and when a home playoff game might be.
Perhaps to celebrate getting through the regular season without a real hitch -- and that's saying something in this Year of COVID, the band distributed to each member a Festus High gaiter -- a face covering that, when worn, looks more like a bandana than a face mask. It's not surprising that an industrious group of teens found uses for them not imagined by the manufacturer.
