Farris H. Hamlyn Sr., 74, of High Ridge died Feb. 10, 2015.
Mr. Hamlyn was a 50-year active member of the High Ridge Fire Department (Fire Protection District). He joined in 1961, and he moved up to become a junior trainer. He eventually served as chief and on the Board of Directors and is on the district’s Honorary List.
Born June 4, 1940, he was the son of the late Earl and Lydia (Abernathy) Hamlyn.
Survivors include of wife of more than 16 years: Gertrude C. (Gildehaus) Hamlyn of High Ridge; four sons: Farris (Angie) Hamlyn Jr. of Labadie, Jeff Hamlyn of High Ridge, Gregg (Gina) Hamlyn of Lonedell and James (Mary) Hamlyn of Lemay; five step-children: Kevin (Lisa) Carman of Union; Luann (Jim) Bockhorst of New Haven; Steve (Hattie) Carman of St. Louis, Kelly (Dennis) Knehans of Villa Ridge and Melissa (Calvin) Wayne of Villa Ridge.
Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 14, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 3009 High Ridge Blvd., High Ridge, immediately followed by an 11 a.m. service.
Memorials may be made to the BackStoppers, Parkinson’s Disease Foundation or St. Anthony of Padua.
