Daniel Jack Queen, 76, of De Soto and Marco Island, Fla., died July 20, 2017, at his De Soto home. Mr. Queen had owned and operated eight IGA and Save-A-Lot grocery stores in the area and was the director of Queen Enterprises. He was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in De Soto, the Knights of Columbus, Amvets Post 48 in De Soto, Elks Lodge 689 in De Soto, and the Island Country Club in Marco Island. He served on the board of directors of State Bank of De Soto, Southside National Bank and Jefferson Memorial Hospital. Born March 8, 1941, in De Soto, he was the son of the late Francis “Earl” and Geneva (Lewis) Queen.
He is survived by his wife: Joyce (Boyer) Queen; two children: Natalie Queen of Hillsboro and Andrea (Tim) Sampson of Fenton; a sister: Yvonne (Rick) Williams of Wentzville; three brothers: Ronald (the late Becky) Queen of Festus, Kenneth (the late June) Queen of Grand Blanc, Mich., and Russ (Rita) Queen of Potosi;a sister-in-law: Pat Queen of Edwardsville, Ill.; five grandchildren: Hannah, Maitland, Zach, Nathan and Annaleigh; and one great-granddaughter, Adelynn. He was preceded in death by a brother, Fred Queen.
A funeral service was held July 24 at Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home in De Soto, officiated by Deacon Ed Boyer. Burial was in the Calvary Mausoleum in De Soto. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements were under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home.
