A 34-year-old Crystal City woman was arrested July 4 for allegedly shooting a BB pistol at the mother of children who were bothering the suspect by shooting off fireworks.
The incident happened about 7:30 p.m. in the 100 block of Maple Street. No injuries were reported.
The victim, 25, of Festus told Crystal City Police she was sitting in her vehicle watching her children shoot off fireworks when she heard them yell, “She has a gun.”
The children’s mother said she saw the suspect point a pistol at her and fire it. The victim said the shot went past her head. The younger woman then said the shooter told her it was only a BB gun.
Officers seized the BB gun. The Crystal City woman was charged with misdemeanor counts of assault, discharging a weapon and peace disturbance, all municipal court charges.
