Eureka Police patch

A 34-year-old Eureka woman may be facing child abuse charges after her alleged retaliation following an altercation between her 9-year-old daughter and a 9-year-old neighbor boy. The conflict began July 12 when her daughter was spending the night with the boy’s 9-year-old sister in the Legends Terrace Apartment complex, Eureka Police reported.

The brother and sister told Eureka Police that the boy went into the room where the girls were sleeping and pulled the neighbor girl’s hair. The boy also said that when the girl sat up, he accidentally hit her in the chest, a police report said.

The neighbor girl then left the apartment and told her mother that she was inappropriately touched, according to the report.

On July 13, the boy went to the neighbor girl’s apartment looking for his sister, and the mother answered the door. She allegedly pulled the boy into the apartment, held him down, shaved his head and wrote “pervert” on his forehead with a felt-tip pen, the report said.

Eureka Police booked the woman and then released her pending application for warrants through the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.

Eureka Police referred the case involving the dispute between the two children to the juvenile court system.
