Kameron M. Elsworth, 22, of Fenton has been sentenced to eight years in prison for stabbing another man, court papers indicated.
On May 19, 2015, a bonfire was being held at Elsworth’s home in the 300 block of Mount Everest Drive in Fenton, and he got in a dispute with his girlfriend, the probable-cause statement said.
Another man, the stabbing victim, intervened on the woman’s behalf and then Elsworth stabbed him on the right side of his chest, the report said.
Elsworth then told the victim he hoped he died and then left the scene on foot, the report said.
A deputy said the victim had a 2-inch laceration on his chest, according to the report.
Elsworth, formerly of Park Hills, pleaded guilty to first-degree assault, a felony, and on March 24, Jefferson County Div. 3 Circuit Judge Nathan B. Stewart sentenced him to eight years, the report said.
Jefferson County assistant prosecuting attorney Douglas S. Pribble handled the case.
The eight-year term is to be served concurrent, or at the same time, with a seven-year term Elsworth previously was sentenced to for possession of a controlled substance stemming from a January 2012 incident in St. Francois County.
Elsworth currently is in the Eastern Reception, Diagnostic and Correctional Center in Bonne Terre.
