Pevely Police arrested a 49-year-old Farmington man after he was found early this morning (July 8) running naked in the rain along I-55 after he drove his pickup truck off the interstate.

At about 12:30 a.m., the man was arrested north of Hwy. Z as he ran north on the shoulder of the road, not far from where he had run his 2003 Ford Ranger into a concrete ditch.

“The man was completely naked,” Pevely Police Capt. Kevin Sullivan said. “He had taken his clothes off as he was going down the shoulder. Every so often they (officers) found an article of clothing.”

The truck was totaled, Sullivan said.

“He refused all field sobriety tests,” Sullivan said. “He was arrested for driving while intoxicated and for failure to maintain a single lane.”

The man was expected to be released from the Pevely Jail this afternoon. The case will be tried in Municipal Court.
