I took this photo of Toby, then 12, on a bed at home during the summer of 2012. He was a mutt from the Humane Society, part German shepherd, part Irish wolfhound.
This was one of his favorite spots. The bed was in a corner by two windows, so he could look out the two windows. He liked to look out for his people coming home. He was very much a people dog.
Toby loved to play catch. He would catch whatever item you threw and bring it back to you, but it was always a tug-of-war with him to get it back.
He was a gentle giant, but, he was my protector. I like to walk a lot and he wanted to walk with me in the woods. If anything came around, he’d protect me.
Toby died in 2012. Oh, my goodness, I was fond of him. He was my buddy.
